Secular Franciscan Order
Secular Franciscans are not a club, association, or society.  We are united in an international "ORDER" founded by Saint Francis of Assisi; 800 years ago in simplicity of life and sacrifice (poverty).  There are approximately one thousand fraternities of Secular Franciscans scattered through the United States.

What do we do?  We pray alone and together, we learn about Christ in the Gospels, Francis, Clare and ourselves.  We share our journeys, and we look to the Gospel to be our guide-- reaching out to others.

How?  We meet on a regular basis to share our lives and our efforts to live the Gospel.  We retreat together to gather our thoughts and redirect our lives;  we work together & serve others to change our lives and our world.

Article 14 of the Rule :  Secular Franciscans, together with all people of good will, are called to build a more fraternal and evangelical world so that the Kingdom of God might be brought about more effectively.

Why?  We feel called by the Holy Spirit to follow Christ in the spirit of Franciscanism, with the support and encouragement of others who are committed to a Gospel life style.
